The new heroic Knight is one of the best hero cards so far. He’s cheap, has a really strong ability, and fits into almost any deck. There’s no real downside to the heroic Knight, so it’s no surprise that there are already a bunch of powerful decks featuring him. In this article I’m going to take a quick look at how to play the heroic Knight, then I’ll look at 3 of the best heroic Knight decks right now!
How to Play Heroic Knight
Heroic Knight has a very simple ability. It’s called “Triumphant Taunt”, and it states that the Knight “gains a shield and taunts nearby enemies, forcing them to attack him”. So, this allows the Knight to force nearby structures and/or troops to target the Knight instead of whatever they were already targeting. This allows him to tank for threats regardless of if they get to the other side first, which allows him to be much more offensive than the normal or even evolved Knight. It also lets him counter threats like X-Bow or Mortar that rely on targeting buildings.
You don’t have to change your mindset much between normal and heroic Knight. If you plan to use him as a more aggressive tank, then you will have to change some things, but generally speaking he’s very similar. Heroic Knight is simply more powerful in every way than both other version of the Knight, which makes him one of the best heroes in the game.
X-Bow + Heroic Knight

Cards:
- Archer (Evo)
- Tesla (Evo)
- Knight (Hero)
- X-Bow
- Fireball
- Skeletons
- Electro Spirit
- The Log
As an X-Bow fan, it’s nice to have a new card fit so well into the deck. Heroic Knight is perfect for X-Bow decks since the normal Knight was already in many of them anyway. Knight has always been a good card for X-Bow decks since he’s such a cheap tank, but now he’s even better. This deck doesn’t really make use of any offensive capabilities of the heroic Knight, but it does use him as the primary tank. Being able to force enemies to target him instead of X-Bow is a game-changer. It’s already hard enough to destroy an X-Bow, but with the heroic Knight in play it’s even harder since even targeting it becomes a chore.
For the evolutions, Archers and Tesla are the obvious choices. Archers are just generally good in X-Bow decks, and just like the Knight, the normal version was already in the deck. Archers are the main flying defense for this deck other than Tesla, so they’re really important. Then Tesla is an even more obvious choice. I can’t imagine an X-Bow deck without Tesla, and the evolved version makes it much better for wave clear. This deck also uses both Fireball and The Log to clear out threats to the X-Bow like Barbarians, Minions, or really anything else.
X-Bow decks are all about control. You have to be patient, otherwise your X-Bow will get consistently beaten down. Utilizing the combination of X-Bow and Tesla together as well as cheap, powerful cards like heroic Knight and evo Archers, X-Bow decks have never been more powerful.
Heroic Knight + Balloon & Dragons

Cards:
- Baby Dragon (Evo)
- Inferno Dragon (Evo)
- Knight (Hero)
- Balloon
- Bowler
- Tornado
- Freeze
- Barbarian Barrel
This deck is all about creating a deadly push with Balloon at the front. To accomplish that, we have a few routes to go through. First, both evolutions are dragons. Baby Dragon and Inferno Dragon are great for supporting the Balloon as they defeat most of Balloon’s counters. Baby Dragon takes out any swarms like Minions, Bats, etc., while Inferno Dragon deals with larger threats. The Inferno Dragon also counters any tank, as long as you can keep it from being reset/zapped repeatedly. We also have the Bowler/Tornado combo, which also goes well with the dragons due to their AOE.
The heroic Knight comes into play here as both a general cheap tank, but more importantly to tank for Balloon. While the Bowler is better for this role, Knight can handle it in a more unique way. Since the heroic Knight has an ability which forces nearby enemies/buildings to target him, he’s great for getting Balloon to towers. When you play your Balloon, opponents will have to counter it somehow. Heroic Knight can force all those troops/buildings to target him instead while the Balloon flies freely to the nearest tower. This is definitely a more offensive use of the heroic Knight than the X-Bow deck.
Overall, I’d call this a very aggressive deck. Using the heroic Knight to forcibly tank for Balloon is an extremely deadly strategy, and it rewards aggression. As soon as you have evolved dragons ready to go, I’d recommend preparing a Balloon push. Heroic Knight is obviously great in this scenario, but Bowler also works just as well.
Heroic Knight Spell/Log Bait

Cards:
- Goblin Barrel (Evo)
- Skeleton Army (Evo)
- Knight (Hero)
- Princess
- Dart Goblin
- Ice Spirit
- The Log
- Inferno Tower
For the last heroic Knight deck, we have a spell/log bait one. These kinds of decks are always popular since just about everyone has a cheap spell you can bait them into wasting. Whether it’s the Log, Zap, Snowball, or something else, any card that can counter Goblin Barrel is a prime target to make your opponent waste. Goblin Barrel is a must-include for this deck as one of the evolutions, and Skeleton Army fits the theme well. The heroic Knight is very important in this deck since he’s the only tank, so you’ll need to be more careful with him than usual.
As the name suggests, this deck is 100% focused on making opponents waste cheap spells and leave themselves open to Goblin Barrel. It’s full of cards that bait opponents into wasting these spells on other targets, these being Dart Goblin, Skeleton Army and Princess. All three of these are strong on their own, but if you can get an opponent to throw a Log or similar spell at them, it’s always a good thing. In terms of editing this deck, I definitely think you can switch out Princess or Dart Goblin for another similar bait target if you want to. Skeleton Army could also be replaced as the second evolution, but I do think it’s the best option right now.
All Goblin Barrel decks are aggressive by nature, and this one is no different. There does have to be some patience so you can find the right opening and set up good pushes, but even these scenarios are still aggressive. There’s no time to waste when you have Goblin Barrels to spam.
